HIS Story

In the Beginning

In the beginning of His Story, God had a plan.

The God that is:
All-Knowing (Omniscient)- He knows all
All-Powerful (Omnipotent)- He can do all
Always-Present (Omnipresent)- He is with all for always.

That God had a plan that He is still working out today.

Through His Story, you will be able to see some of that plan and hopefully determine if you are a part of that plan!

In the beginning of His Story, God was in 3 persons, The Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), and He had a plan to create out of nothing.

He separated light from darkness creating day and night.

He created the heavens, the water, and the dry land. He created 2 great lights to rule over the earth. The greater light ruled over the day and the lesser light ruled over the night.

We can already see that God is a part of this plan in that all of these things did not crash together but were able to orbit through space in harmony.

"God works all things together for the good of His purpose." Romans 8:28

So, make sure you are on purpose with Him.

God then filled the earth with green vegetation and fruit.

Then he created living creatures on the land and in the waters.

God then created man and woman in His image.

The Bite That Changed Everything

He told them to tend and keep the Garden and the animals in it. He told them that they could eat of any tree in the Garden except the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Then one day, the serpent (which John identified as Satan in Revelation 12:9) came to the woman in the Garden. He began to question her about God's instructions for the tree. She repeated the instructions perfectly. The fruit was not to be eaten by her, but then Satan began to trick her by making the fruit look more inviting. He told her that she would not die but that she would be like God. So, finally she reached up, grabbed one, and took a bite. Then she even passed one to her husband to take a bite.

Then everything changed, because Adam and Eve had disobeyed God.

But what they found out is that you cannot find a place to hide from God.

"Nothing is hidden from God's sight." Hebrews 4:13

"There is no where we can go that God is not." Psalm 139:7-8

We also see in this that just because we disobey God does not mean that He doesn't still have a plan. Remember, He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and always-present.

Sacrifice Enters The World

When Adam and Eve sinned (fell short of God's perfection), they were ashamed. Sacrifice entered the world as God killed an animal to cover their shame and nakedness. (Later, in His Story we will see another sacrifice that was killed to cover the shame and sin of the world.)

At this point, they were banished from the Garden of Eden, and Adam was given tools to work the earth. No longer was he able to obtain food without sacrifice and hard work. He was made to till the ground from which he was formed.

Imagine how hot Adam got working the land as he was introduced to the sacrifice that must be given through work. He had known perfect Eden where he could just grab fruit from the tree with no sacrifice. As he remembered that time and sweated, don't you think he realized that he had been wrong when he thought that he did not need God.

Looking ahead in His Story to Psalm 55:22, we see that God still does have a plan for us though. "Cast your burdens(circumstances, struggles, sins) on the Lord, and He will sustain you (hold you up). He will never let the righteous fall."

We must realize that we need God, and give to Him everything that we are trying to hold on to and juggle on our own. We can't keep juggling forever; eventually, everything will crash down on us.

He wants us to cast our cares on Him. Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden was that they were acting as if they no longer need God but wanted to be equal with Him.

From that point of disobedience on, sacrifices had to be made to cover the sins. These Old Testament sacrifices required the shedding of blood of an animal for the forgiveness of sins. These sacrifices were not once and for all but had to be performed over and over. They obviously could not remove sin and since they were repeated every year they constantly reminded the people that they fell short and that they needed God to cover their struggles with sin also.

That same God was reminding these people to cast their burdens(circumstances, struggles, sins) on Him, and He will sustain (hold them up). He will not let the righteous fall.

BAD NEWS

The BAD NEWS is no matter how much we sacrifice through our own works our sins cannot be removed and our relationship with Him cannot be restored.

"And every priest stands ministering daily and offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, SAT DOWN at the right hand of God. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified." Hebrews 10:11, 12-14

So what happens to those who continue to go by their own sacrifices or other ways?

"He will say to those, Depart from Me into the everlasting fire prepared for the devils and his angels." Matthew 25:41

Are you trying to get a handle on how you are going to deal with the fire of eternity that is promised to those who do not know Jesus? Are you still juggling this decision? Please don't try to juggle this on your own, because no matter how good of a juggler you are, it will crash down on you and you will get burned.

GOOD NEWS

The GOOD NEWS is that the same Lord that continues to say cast your burdens, struggles, circumstances on me and I will not let you fall is also inviting you to hand this struggle of where you will spend eternity to Him so that He can extinguish those flames in your life and put them on the cross with everything else that you give Him. He was that once-and-for-all sacrifice that was killed to not just remove but to cover the sins of the world.

So that you will have your hands free to love Him, to worship Him, and to serve Him by telling others about His Story.

He does have a plan and you are a very important part of it!

HIS WHOLE STORY IS ABOUT YOU!

He wants to have a relationship with you. He has been providing a way for that relationship ever since Adam and Eve took a bite of that fruit so many years ago.

He pointed to the WAY through the sacrifices of the Old Covenant and the WAY was realized through the death of His Son Jesus Christ on the cross as He conquered sin, death, and the fiery darts of the Evil One.

ABC's of Belief

You must simply:

Admit that you are a sinner and that you fall short of God's perfection as all of us do. Admit that you need God and that you are nothing without Him. Don't make the same mistake that Adam and Eve made and think that you do not need Him.

Believe that Jesus Christ was His Son, and that He did die on the cross to pay the price and to take the punishment that you should have paid and that He rose from the dead on the third day so that His Spirit could come and fill your life even today.

Commit your life to live for Him and His glory.
